History of The Cream Crested Legbar
The Cream Legbar has a crest on its head and is a true autosexing chicken. You can tell the hens from the cocks from day one of hatching.
This is an old pure breed that dates back to 1930s it's a cross between Brown Leghorns and Barred Rock with some Araucana blood in them which is where they get the blue egg laying abilities from.
These hens are small but firm, muscular birds with a wedge-shaped body it has broad shoulders and tapers towards the rear.
They have a large wing and a long flat back and a tail that points nearly 45 degrees into the air.
The females have a very large crest and the males a smaller one. The hen's comb is small also compared the cock's comb.
They have a smooth face with white ear lobes
Cream Crested Legbar Behaviour
They can be a bit flighty if startled but overall they are pretty happy foraging and make excellent free-range birds.
