How We Breed Our Hens

Believing in keeping our hens healthy and happy. Our breeding hens are kept 6 hens to 1 cockerel ensuring highest fertility rates.

Kept In large in 1.5 meter high by 2.0m wide x 3.5 meter long chicken tractors giving each bird 1sq meter so they can spread their wings. They are moved daily to fresh pasture. Spending their days scratching around breathing fresh air, doing what chickens do eating bugs and grubs.

This way of breeding and raising hens keeps our stock birds in tip top condition to produce the best quality eggs and healthiest of chicks. While not needing medication except normal early worming and merek's injection.

How Our Young Pullets Are Raised

You can also check out the Pet Delivery Services on our delivery page if you would like hens delivered outside our delivery radius.

All fertile hatching eggs ordered online are packed in the best possible packaging specially made for posting eggs. We will pack them and post them the same day if available by 24 hour tracked courier.

If the eggs are not available then we will let you know how long it will take for us to post them. We will not send out eggs that are not fresh.

Dirty Eggs

We do not send out dirty eggs and we do not wash our eggs. If you wash eggs you will remove the protective coating and this can lead to bacteria entering the embryo through the shell. We only send out clean freshly laid eggs, but there may be the odd mark on the eggs. You are free to clean the eggs yourself with the correct solution. But the eggs will never be badly soiled.

We test the fertility of our eggs regularly and are confident that we have a 80 - 90% fertility rate.

As we only keep 1 cockerel for every 6 hens all hens are all producing fertile eggs.

We can not guarantee the hatch rates after they have been through the postal service. But we do our best to pack them safely so that you receive fully intact eggs.

We also place a fragile tape around the boxes and a sticker telling the courier of it's contents. This helps the courier understand that there is live fertile eggs inside and to be careful as possible.

As we do not know the way you incubate your eggs..? We cannot guarantee your hatch. We have information on the best incubation methods and how to get the best hatch possible on the our "Know How To Incubate Page".

We are soon to start a YouTube channel called "The Poultry Breeder". We have built a special studio to record helpful videos. The videos will include everything from incubating to how to spot disease and also how to repair splayed legs and among other things.

You are more than welcome to follow the channel and ask any questions in the comment sections of the videos.

We want you to have the best experience with "Uk Poultry" getting the most fulfilment from your hens.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask then please feel free to contact us through our contact page.
